About The Artist

Phil McKinnon is a relatively new face in the world of scrap metal sculpting, but his journey into this art form was anything but planned. It all started with a simple twist of a square rod in early 2022, and he was hooked—thus earning the name "The Accidental Artist."

Phil has always enjoyed working with metal, but his past projects typically involved repairing farm equipment or building crates for utes, always using new materials. Now, as a recent retiree, Phil has the time to dive into his newfound passion: creating unique sculptures from scrap metal in his cozy shed in Hamilton, NZ.

Limitless Imagination

Phil's creations are born from his imagination—no plans, no blueprints, just pure creativity. From garden art to indoor sculptures, he works with scrap metal sourced from various places, always ready to tackle new ideas that fit within the constraints of his shed.

As he continues to refine his skills, Phil is eager to push the boundaries of his creative flair. While he doesn't claim to be a perfectionist, he ensures that every piece meets his high standards before it leaves his shed.
